Lamborghini has set out on its metaverse world tour. Click here to find out what it is and what exactly NFTs are.
The famous car manufacturer, Lamborghini, has recently launched a new world tour, offering users a unique journey across New York, Japan, Dubai and Sant’Agata Bolognese in Italy. It is unique because the journey takes place entirely within the metaverse.
The world tour in question is an innovative NFT drop from what is known as their “Epic Road Trip” collection. These are NFTs that have been created by Lamborghini with the help of Web3 Pro and INVNT.ATOM, and they are subject to run for eight months until March 2023 – every month, the four NFTs will be released for four days consecutively, with the collection including three base NFTs and a rare collectible.
NFT collectors will receive various exclusive benefits, including a commemorative digital wallpaper, a Lamborghini GLB File, a Lamborghini Centro Stile Sketch and a VIP tour. With the GT team having recently partnered with Go2NFT, this is a sizable step for the Lamborghini company, successfully establishing itself as a Web3 pioneer in an industry that is rapidly embracing more digital expressions and solutions.
What Are NFTs?
An NFT – which stands for non-fungible token – is another element of blockchain technology. While the price of Bitcoin will rise and fall subject to the market, an NFT is a digital file that is sold on blockchain for whatever price the seller and buyer deem suitable.
In this way, they represent a particularly unique asset – like a physical piece of art – as the owner of an NFT is the sole owner of that piece of data. One BTC can be sold for an identical BTC, but there is only one particular NFT in existence, meaning it cannot be replaced.
In recent years, many companies have gotten on board with the concept – using NFTs to get a foothold in the metaverse and open the company to various digital possibilities. Lamborghini, for instance, is able to reach fans through this world tour in a way that wouldn’t be possible without metaverse technology.
What Exactly Is The World Tour?
As mentioned previously, the world tour is essentially a collection of NFTs that drop for four days every month. Lamborghini fans and crypto collectors can purchase the three base edition collectible NFTs – there are 1,963 of each – and receive access to a rare NFT – there are only 63 to mint.
The three base NFTs are $196.30 each, with the rare edition going for $1,963. If you have noticed a theme there, it is because 1963 signifies the origin year of Lamborghini.
Each NFT gives users the ability to take the Aventador Ultimae Roadster on a ride through Times Square, Mount Fuji, Dubai and the headquarters of Lamborghini in Italy. In Lamborghini’s own words, this is a journey of discovery – in which historical locations and details never made public before will finally be revealed.
FAQ’s
How Can I Get Involved?
The last Lamborghini world tour drop was 24th October, 2022, and it is scheduled to take place every month until March 2023. If you have a crypto wallet, then all you have to do is bid when the NFTs drop, and you might find yourself with a rare, collectible piece of Lamborghini.
Are NFTs Worth It?
Why buy a real Lamborghini when you can buy a picture of one? This is the question that many non-NFT lovers are scratching their head about. It seems abstract, especially when considering these NFTs might eventually be on the market for as much as $200,000, which is just about as much as a real Lamborghini. But in all seriousness, NFTs like these have become highly desirable as they give users a chance to actually own a piece of Lamborghini history – which can then be sold for even more. In many cases, NFTs are an investment strategy, giving you the ability to own a piece of work that nobody else does – which, in turn, makes them highly desirable.
What’s Better? An NFT Or A Crypto Token?
NFTs are different to crypto tokens, as they are not pieces of currency, meaning their value is not purely economic. Their similarities arise only because they both exist on blockchain, and a user can pay for an NFT using their crypto assets. With this in mind, it is perfectly possible to own both crypto tokens and NFTs, without having to decide which is essentially more “worth it”. You might buy ETH with the belief that the price of Ethereum will rise in the near future, but you might buy an NFT for the sole purpose of owning something unique and unreplicatable.
Is The Metaverse The Future?
The reason this is a big move for Lamborghini is that they are setting their stall in the metaverse, which is due to become a significant part of everyone's life down the line. With Web3 set to integrate into our lives as early as 2030, it is important for companies to adjust and tap into the digitised market. It is pretty much inevitable that the metaverse is the future, and it appears that Lamborghini is driving the right road to take advantage of it.
