3.07 Reading opening, closing, maximum and minimum prices

Goal: Learning to read and interpret basic price data from candlestick charts.

 

Basic definition

  • Opening price (Open): The price at the beginning of the trading period.
  • Closing price (Close): The price at the end of the trading period.
  • Maximum price (High): The highest price reached during the trading period.
  • Minimum price (Low): The lowest price reached during the trading period.


 

Example of an uptrend candle:

Opening price: $100

Closing price: $110

Maximum price: $115

Minimum price: $95


 

Example of a downtrend candle:

Opening price: $100

Closing price: $110

Maximum price: $115

Minimum price: $95
