This is the 35th edition of the Giro d'Italia Women, a race that has been held since 1988. This year, the competition takes place from July 7 to 14. The inaugural individual time trial was won by Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl/Treck), and the second stage by Chiara Consonni (UAE TEAM ADQ). After starting from Brescia and covering 876.7 km, the competition will be finished in L'Aquila next Sunday. Last year's winner was a Dutch woman Annemiek van Vleuten from the Movistar team.

After the 2nd stage of the Giro d'Italia Women, the Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl - Trek team) is the general classification leader. The fastest sprinter is another representative of the hosts - Chiara Consonni from the UAE TEAM ADQ. In the competition for the "red jersey" of the time trial leader, as many as five Italian representatives occupy places in the TOP 10.
